Another year (almost) done

Well, it's just about that time, Dear Reader, where we are done with the Old and welcome in the New.

Good riddance to old rubbish, I say!

However, it's not like I'm feeling any excitement or anticipation of good things to come. Nope, colour me cynical and world-weary if you must, but I sense it's just going to be more of the same for the coming year.

Which they won't.

I thought that, given last year's dismal failure, I'd better put this out there a bit earlier so as to get some traction for the event.

Yep, bookmark March 16 as International 'Buy a PI a Coffee' Day and let's make it a resounding success this time.

Monday WTF Files: An unusual degree of interest

Well, Dear Reader, I'm afraid you have stumped me with your antics because, for some unfathomable reason, a particular blog post has been getting quite a bit of attention.

The post in question was actually written just over two years ago and I am at a bit of a loss as to explain its current popularity.

To put it in perspective, overall, it has had almost 2.5 times the views as the next most popular post.

That makes it an aberration.

Would someone please entlighten me as to what is happening?

The Times They Are a-Changin'

It may come as a surprise, possibly even a shock, to you Dear Reader to learn that in the very near future I may no longer be a Private Investigator.

A short time ago I announced, to those who know me, my intent to look for opportunities elsewhere as things had become, to give the technical term, shit. My personal and professional situation was growing more and more untenable and something had to change.

And so I started to keep an eye out for anything suitable, here or abroad.

Wanted: Mrs Peel

When I think of the term 'plucky assistant' I immediately conjur up an image of the character of Mrs Peel from The Avengers (the British TV series from 1961-69, not the godawful US movie).

Well, not so much an assistant as sidekick and, yes, there is very much a difference between the two - but certainly the very definition of plucky.

Sadly, I'm no John Steed but I am looking for an Emma Peel.

In my defence, I have been a bit busy. You know, investigating and stuff.

Anyway, things are back to normal now and I'll have some more tales of woe to post shortly.

While  it's not 2016 in a darkly dystopian Los Angeles, we're not too far off, apart from geographic location of course. At least it's wet and miserable today.

Having completed a tricky job early this morning (I'm over jumping 6' fences in the rain!) I think it's time for a well-deserved treat of sushi while I wait for the next big case.

Also, I know I've been remiss in posting lately, Dear Reader. Never fear, there have been a few things worth writing about and I'll soon have them up. As you will see, it's been a bit hectic here so I hope you will bear with me.
