When Repos Go Bad

Let me regale you with a story, Dear Reader. A story of what could go wrong, going very very wrong indeed. Almost.

As is customary, let me begin by reminding you how much I hate repossessions.

A lot!

And this is why.

Adventures in Banjo Country

I always get the interesting jobs. And by 'interesting', I mean the difficult, tricky, inopportune, or generally just unpleasant ones.

Sometimes, if I'm really lucky, a combination of the above.

So, there I was the other evening, contemplating the free time I had ahead of me when the phone rings. It's one of my regular clients and they have an urgent job for me which needs to be done this evening...

It's not like I have a life, right?

Houses of Horror: A Comedy of Errors

Sometimes we are faced with things we least expect.

Today I had a repossession warrant to effect for a client to uplift a computer system from the debtor's address at 2/120 S********* Street.

A routine matter.

We arrived at the address to find 4 units at that location, A through to D. No problem, I thought. It's not uncommon that people might write 2/120 instead of 120B, right?

More Houses of Horror...

Sometimes I get sent to some strange and definitely creepy places.

One place that will always stay in my mind is what started off as a routine document service job on a woman who had missed quite a few payments on her mortgage.

It was a nice spring morning, the sun was shining and it was warm - perfect for going on a nice drive in the country.

Perfect day for a murder...

The Plucky Private Eye and the House of Doom

There is a house in our fair city, Gentle Reader,  that is known as The House of Doom because of the accursed fate that met the inhabitants one moonless night.

Well, in truth, just one inhabitant (and also a neighbour) who mysteriously ended up dead and under the floorboards. Okay, not so mysteriously either, the husband of the first victim was arrested and charged on both counts but that has nothing to do with this tale. No, this story is about how a Plucky Private Eye (that would be me) felt the cold hand of death pass him by.
