Well, Dear Reader, the winds of change may be a-blowin' if things go my way.
Which they won't.
But if for some reason, and against all odds, they do, I may be a down-and-out Private Investigator no longer and actually find myself in gainful employment.
Yep, working for the man.
Doing what, you might ask?
An investigator with the police.
Yep, pretty much the same thing as being a police detective but without being a sworn officer and having some of the statutory powers that go with that. Essentially this role is to free up front-line officers by doing all the drudge work of conducting area enquiries and taking statements and the like.
Which is what I normally do with the insurance investigations at the moment.
It would entail moving to a different city, and I am more than fine with that!
While one of the things I would sorely miss is being my own man, a regular paycheck makes up for - at least for a year or so. And not only does the prospect of eating every day appeal, so does the opportunity to gain new and/or advanced skills on someone else's dime.
Now don't get all despondent on me now, Dear Reader. This doesn't mean the end of this blog should I land the position.
No, I intend to remain a part-time PI.
Of course, getting the job is not all that straightforward. I have no idea whether it was advertised to satisfy the legal requirement but they already have filled it with an internal appointment (which I would think would be rather unlikely in this case) and I have to factor in that I am, to the casual observer, unemployable.
I'm not being hard on myself there.
The reality is while I might have the right skill set and experience, my personality tends to rub people, especially prospective employers, the wrong way.
Remember my previous personality assessment?
Yep, that old chestnut.
Anyway, first things first - I'm really just hoping to get an interview where I can dazzle them with my brilliance.
To know me is to love me.
So keep your fingers crossed for me, Dear Reader, and hopefully the future will be bright and the tales all the more exciting.
