Bullshit Files: When Psychics Collide

It seems, Dear Reader, that we are faced with a bit of a conundrum. You see, two renowned* and world-famous* psychics have recently made very different claims regarding the fate of missing Madeleine McCann. (I have hinted previously at my thoughts on the matter.)

It's not like they can both be right, can they?

And doesn't it follow that if one is right, then the other has to be, well, full of shit?

Actually, there is nothing precluding them both being douchebags extraordinaire but let's give at least one of them the benefit of the doubt, for now. But which?

In May this year British Psychic and Medium Derek Acorah publically claimed, in that august publication "The Sun" no less, that he had been contacted by a messanger from the spirit world. Acorah went on to say:

“I know her parents are convinced Maddie is alive and I’m really sorry – but the little one has been over in the spirit world for some time.”

Wouldn't you have thought that the parents, Kate and Gerry, would have been relieved to finally have the closure they were looking for?  Apparantly not. No, they were reportedly 'disgusted' at Acorah, labelling him as "nothing but a self-publicist".

Oh dear, perhaps Team McCann are just miffed that others might be somehow profiting from Madelein. Someone other than Kate and Gerry, I mean.

Anyway, Acorah later apologised for his claim.

Why?

If it is the truth, why apologise?

Then, in June, Burnley Psychic Medium John Warne spoke out. Turns out Maddie isn't dead after all but, strangely:

"I know she is at college in Minnesota. It is a reddish brown building with several storeys.I have never been there, but I can see it.” 

At college you say?

Well this is good news indeed because now investigators should have no problem finding her - she'll be the youngest student enrolled as she would be all of nine now. Or the smallest person at a kegger party at one of those Minnesotan frats.

Then again, maybe Warne might be getting into his dottage. Or he could just be lying. After all, he had previously made some claims as to assisting the FBI in the hunt for a serial killer. Claims that had never been substantiated.

So, Dear Reader, who do you think is right? Acorah or Warne?

* All psychics seem to feel the need to tell everyone how 'internationally recognised' they are, even if in everyday life they are a suburban grandmother in a dead-end town who never did anything more exciting than marrying a local plumber.
