The Bullshit Files - Psychic Investigations & Remote Viewing

Often people come to us when they are emotionally vulnerable and at a low point in their lives. Sometimes these people seek out other avenues they perceive can help solve their problems and there are plenty of vultures waiting out there to pick on the carcasses of the desperate.

Psychic 'Investigators', for a start.

The very thought that these charlatans are out there touting for business and offering false hope makes me angry. What makes me angrier is that they have even become mainstream through such television shows as Sensing Murder.

I'd like to point out that Sensing Murder has failed to solve any case in any country the series format has run.

None. Nada. Nil. Zip. Zilch. Zero.

Quite a track record there.

If any other profession produced the same 'results', they wouldn't stay in business long but apparently these psychics are in such demand, they can command even more ridiculous prices to skip their (supposed) several-year waiting list for private consults.

Anyway, I'm digressing from the original purpose of this post which is to say that I have engaged in some online dialogue with a self-professed Remote Viewer, currently offering his services and training. Because I'm such a stand-up guy, I have offered to turn my skepticism into belief if he can verify the veracity of his claims.

I have given him the latitude and longitude of my office and told him that there is a whiteboard upon which I have written only one word. I've given him and his team one week from today to get a result.

I'll let you know what develops but I'm quietly confident. Anyway, I'm going to put up a poll so you too can try out your precognitive powers.

And for a laugh on a related note, I highly recommend seeing The Men Who Stare At Goats. Seriously.

  2. Outcome was posting subsequently. There was some backpedaling and vague bullshit, that's it.
