My life is just like a Mickey Spillane novel, cheap and nasty, but without any of the accompanying sex and violence. Mostly.
I think what is missing is that certain woman-of-mystery. You know, the one that is supposed to slink into the office, lounge around seductively on the furniture, then proceed to send me off into harm's way to get myself frequently injured.
All for some vague promise of future reward.

Credibility and the PI
A friend, let's call him Saul, delights in calling me Dodgy *** - which in itself is fine - but also refers to me as the same when talking to his acquaintances and co-workers or when introducing me to others. He insists that his colleagues know of me not as *** (who happens to be a Private Investigator), but as Dodgy *** the PI.
Of course there is nothing remotely dodgy about me or what I do, but I have been wondering if there might be something I can tap into there in terms of marketing?
I'm just not sure "Dodgy ***'s Cut-Rate Investigations" is exactly going to attract the high-calibre client I am eternally looking for.

Friendship and the Private Investigator
Friends.
No PI is without them. They are our invisible support network, but have our friends really considered the obligation that falls upon them as friends of a Private Investigator?
Yes, obligation. Friendship, after all, has its price.

Jesus Saves! I'm morally bankrupt, however
Well, despite my fears to the contrary, I didn't burst into flame when I entered church on Sunday.
I have to say that my first impression, reinforcing my initial beliefs about the sorts of people that attend these kinds of things, was not good. Standing outside during the service, I saw some individuals that could be loosely described as 'down and outs' sitting in a half-circle, singing away with varying degrees of enthusiasm. One lady in particular had a small purple flag on a stick in each hand, twirling them as she sang. Kind of like a cheerleader for Jesus.
Maybe it was semaphore?

The Apocalypse Beckons...
Strange days indeed, Dear Reader. I know where I will be this coming Sunday at 1000hrs.
Church.
Well, to *a* church in particular. Normally it would take an impending Apocalypse before I would willingly enter such a place and, even then I'm not so sure.
So are the End Times upon us?

Surveillance Kit Essentials
When conducting a surveillance on an individual or location, it's not just a matter of jumping into your vehicle, parking up, and spending the next few hours peering through your binoculars.
Fine, sometimes it is exactly like that, but not without some prior planning and preparation.
I always have a bag in the car with my 'standard' surveillance tools but may add to them as required for a specific case.

The Bullshit Files - Remote Viewer Challenge ends
The time is up on my Remote Viewer Challenge that I issued a week ago without any attempt on the part of the RVer to discern the word on my whiteboard.
The word was defenestration which, as everyone knows, is my most favourite word in the English language. Quite frankly, it doesn't get used as often as it should (the word or the act).

The Bullshit Files - Remote Viewer challenge update
With a day to go I finally received word from the Remote Viewer that they do not engage in playing games for my entertainment.
My response was that this was not merely an exercise in entertainment but an opportunity to demonstrate the validity and practicality of Remote Viewing in investigative work to someone in their target market: a practicing private investigator.
Sounds like a reasonable expectation, I would have thought?
