Well, it just so happens that his claim to defence is based on an actual movement known as Freemen-on-the-Land.

And they are a bunch of nutters.

When intrepid skeptic, Mark Tilbrook, took to the streets to encourage people to think about whether self-proclaimed psychics could actually communicate with the departed, he found himself at the end of a "tirade of abuse" from one John Morgan, manager (and husband) of Sally Morgan (pictured left).

Britain's 'best loved' psychic - according to her website.

It seemed that Mark, his real name by the way, had prepared some pamphlets to encourage (in his own words) "... people attending Sally’s show could then decide for themselves if they believed she was genuinely psychic or not."

Noble goal, Mark, noble goal.

John Morgan, on the other hand, allegedly responded by threatening Mark with kidnap and 'disappearance' (ie murder).

John's 'mug' - get it? Seriously, get it. £4 or he'll 'disappear' you...

Criminal Intelligence

Sometimes, Dear Reader, it really is a challenging task to remain of professional demeanour and straight faced when being told a litany of implausible tales.

Just the other day I was undertaking an investigation of a claim arising from three supposedly unrelated events on the same day where some chattels were damaged.

The claim was flagged for investigation because the claimant had called the insurer several times a few days previously, repeatedly enquiring as to whether his goods were covered while shifting house (they weren't). Then a day after moving he calls in to make a claim, well three actually.

I'm not going to go into detail on what the claim was concerning as it isn't particularly interesting or relevant - apart from one matter that was rather obviously false.

Do clothes really maketh the Man?

Well, it seems that not everyone is enamoured of my sartorial splendour, such as it is.

In fact, one individual went so far as to recently complain to the insurance company I was working on behalf of in regards to my dress sense.

Personally, I just don't get it.

How does what I choose to wear affect my ability to do my job?

Bullshit Files: 'Psychic' didn't see guilty verdict coming

It always gladdens my heart to see the truly deserving get what's coming to them and, in this case, Sylvia Mitchell (her real name) has been found guilty of defrauding two women out of $138,000.

More Gang Stalking Madness!

So there I was, Dear Reader, on a routine insurance case where I had to interview an individual involved in a single-vehicle motor accident along a straight stretch of road late one night.

But this isn't about that.

My destination was only about an hour's drive from Bad City, not that far out. It was a miserable grey day with intermittent showers and a cold breeze. One of those days when you don't really want to get out of your vehicle unless you really had to.

I took a back-roads route, off the well-travelled highway. It was a better drive, in my opinion, and one of my favourites.

Then I noticed something strange. A number of vehicles I had passed going the other way, and there weren't all that many of them to begin with, had one headlight out.

And as we know, vehicles with only one working light are symbolic of organised gangstalking.

Is that what this was? Am I now a victim of the very thing I mocked earlier?

Psychic dead wrong. Again.

So it's all the news at the moment that 'Spiritual Teacher and Psychic' Sylvia Browne wrongly predicted that Amanda Berry was dead, back in 2004, on a US TV show.


Browne's comment in regards to the recent events?

"Only God is right all the time."

Good point, Sylvia. Well, if you can't be right ALL the time, just how many times can you be?

Apparently never.

(No) Money No Problem

I should have known better.

When a mysterious and exotic woman comes to you, whispering of riches and intrigue, you know it's never going to be that easy or go as expected.

Never.

A Problem with Witnesses

Well, Dear Reader, I have had a criminal defence case recently jump into my lap that is giving me a bit of a headache.

Without going into too many details, the defendant is charged with a number of counts of unlawful sexual connection, as well as abduction, in regards to an incident late one night at a party.

Clearly, his account of what occurred at the party differs significantly from hers - she has laid a complaint.

This is where I come in...

Bullshit Files: The Bureaucratic Tangle

In a scenario that could have been straight out of Catch-22, I am currently involved in a matter that perplexes the fuck out of me.

Here's the situation in a nutshell.

The police had evidence in a criminal complaint that they didn't have funding for to have DNA testing. They couldn't have the Client, who was willing, pay for the testing so due to lack of leads case closed and evidence released back to Client to pursue private testing. Laboratory won't accept evidence for testing unless submitted by police. But the police have closed file...

See the problem?

Liberty County settles lawsuit...

 ...Angels remain conspicuously silent on matter, however.

You may recall my post earlier this year regarding the swift action undertaken by the esteemed Liberty County's Sheriff's Office after receiving a hot tip from psychic 'Angel' (who in turn had received the news directly from Sweet Baby Jesus and the 32 Angels at His side) about the mass grave under the house of Joe Bankson and Gena Charlton.

Except, of course, no bodies were subsequently found.

Well, it seems that the good news is that Liberty County has settled the lawsuit, paying Bankson and Charlton $15,000 each to make the matter disappear.

A bit like all those alleged corpses.

Now just the news corporations and, of course, psychic 'Angel' to go...
